the manual states with the allen screw loosened drift the sight using a wooden dowel in either direction - my problem after using oak dowels which i had to keep cutting off to square the end i did not move the sight so i had to use a brass drift to slightly move the sight.

any idea why this is happening - maybe i will just pound to out and either replace or file it to fit if any thing is left - i know beating it to death is not correct but options that i can think of are zero

They are a tight fit and I use a brass drift. Front sight was very tight and I took a bit of material off the dovetailed edges on the replacement front to fit very snug but not so tight that I risked damage to the sight. I'd rather have then too tight and file to fit than too loose.

Had to send mine back to Ruger because I couldn't get my front sight off. Tried brass punches and sight tool. Nice thing was that they didn't charge me. It just cost me postage to AZ.
