I received a news update from Ruger today advising that the American pistol is now available with a thumb safety for those who need or want that feature. Bob! 8)

Yes I saw that. This does make a difference to me. Now it's a viable pistol choice for my needs. I'm hoping to see some videos of one and also handle one at a LGS soon.

Saw that too! Good news as it may give Ruger an edge over Glock in the LEO world.

Now I'm waiting for the longslide variant of the thumb safety version.

Got my attention, also! I am not currently in "need" of another semi-auto, and my 1911's already have thumb safeties, so I probably won't run right out and buy one, but when I do feel the need to get another semi-auto it will go to the top of those I consider.

Heck, one reason I keep the little AMT Backup .380 I found - literally - is because it has both thumb and grip safeties!
