Ghost rocket install on friend's ruger sr9. He filed tab to fire with just minimal over travel. Yet to live fire. While cycling slide manually, after few times the trigger failed to reset. Disassembled and found broken striker. What?

When an SR9 returns to battery after the trigger has been pulled and the slide moves rearward and is on its return, there has to be room for the connector to cam down to reset the trigger. Your friend removed that room (play) and the striker broke. Adding things to a pistol sometimes makes things break.

Evidently there was not enough room. Ghostinc should make clear how much travel is required after fit for trigger to break!

So, your friend took a perfectly good handgun and put an aftermarket gizmo in it. He then modified the gizmo and something broke. How could that possibly happen?

How did the striker break exactly? I don't see how the disconnector could cause the striker to break, at most it would not allow the trigger bar to bottom out and release the striker to fire. The overtravel stop tab doesn't control how the cutout on the bottom of the slide interacts with the disconnector, that is controlled by the corresponding tab at the top of the disconnector.

Don't know. That was my question. Could be coincidence, where the release tab on striker broke, some material was shiny, some dull. Might already have been partially broken. And to, before it broke during dry fire. The slide would raise up with trigger pull?

I like to see pictures of the striker and where it broke. That's a pretty hefty striker. I have two of the SR series and both have the rocket and I dry fire practice quite a bit..
