I don't think Ruger is done introducing variations of the 1911. They have been experimenting with different calibers and configurations. It wouldn't surprise me to see a 9mm.

Just my $0.02

I've been avoiding getting a 9mm 1911 -- my SR1911 is such a nice shooter,
I know if I get a 9mm 1911 I won't shoot any of my other 9mm's.
If Ruger makes an SR1911 in 9mm, esp in CMDR size, I don't know if I can hold out.

I think Ruger could sell the heck out of a SR1911 9mm in some form, but there may be other pistols they are working on that they could sell even more of. Would be interesting to sit in one of their board meetings.

Apparently chambering the 1911 for 9 mm and making it reliable isn't all that easy but it can be done. My Les Baer Premier in 9 mm runs 100% but the concept has it's critics based on other attempts that haven't worked so well. I hope Ruger can make it work.

If Ruger came up with a 9mm 1911 i'd jump on it now. I have a Ruger commander which I like very much. I trying to reduce my calibers down to 9mm and 22lr and mag. I just don't hunt any longer. Oh a 12 gauge also.

This thread needs some updating. They did make the SR1911 commander lightweight 9mm and I am a proud owner.

I also like how it shoots.

First day at the range

Second time at the range with it.
