I have a standard purchased in the late sixties with matching box. The box has smoke damage which looks sort of cool as there was a piece of fabric or clothing partially over the box during the fire. The result is sort of a tie-dye effect.

Have a question regarding the wax writing denoting the serial number. Some of it has worn off but looking closely you can tell it is original writing and that the numbers match. Good enough or would any of you folks try to re-apply the wax writing and if so what is the best way to do so? I'm o.k. with it as is but figured I'd ask.

I would leave it entirely alone, Sir. AS it houses the greatest of ALL W.B. Ruger's pistol designs any future buyer will love the why'n'wherefores of what happened to it.
And so it goes...
