Hated mine so much I sold it off and will never buy another one. The mark III are great and I haven't had any trouble with them. But the trigger on my 22/45 was just like pulling a brick and I couldn't bring myself to spend a few more hundred on a trigger job for a gun that should have come with a good functioning trigger from the start.

I'm usually against replacing parts in a gun, but wow! That looks like a NICE upgrade. Why the heck didn't Ruger build it like this in the first place?

I personally think a better question would be: why the heck did Ruger ADD a magazine disconnect safety onto a proven, decades-old design in the first place?

The BRAND NEW Ruger 22 disassembly and reassembly STILL is the main cause of grief to the users of the gun that are either not mechanical or patient.

+1 to that. I have a Mark III Comp that tests my patience on re-assembly. Once I remember the proper method, though, it goes together without any drama.

Removing the mag disconnect and adding the hammer bushing (I used a Tandemcross model) is a nice mod that is easy to do and helps with the usage and feel of the gun.

Where any thinking 22 Ruger pistol goes to get a simple part/conversion to enable cleaning their shooter. With their conversion I can clean and re-assemble my 22/45 standing in a stream... with muddy water no less! ;) It is a shame Ruger never clued in to improve the one major design flaw, and never bought their patent!

Dino is too modest.

Unfortunately, much of it came from trying to meet California DOJ's strict rules for certification and subsequent placement on the DOJ "roster". Since then Ruger has told CA to pound sand and they are introducing new pistols without all the BS. Perhaps we should all write Ruger and request a PRO version of the MKIII and 22/45.

A MKIII version of the KMK-514 with a D&T receiver, updated MKIII mag release location, but without the LCI or mag disconnect and of course target sights. One can dream right?
