This was in another thread. I thought I'd give it a home of its own in case more collector-types would be interested.

FWIW, the following "duplicate" OM .357 Blackhawks have been reported to Bob's List . . .

I have also included those "non-D" guns that fall "within the range", except those between D30-38756 and D30-97433, and D30-98861, D30-98906, and D31-00036, as the two extreme guns are sorta "out of the loop".

Note that nearly all of them are 6-1/2" .357/9mm convertibles.

I have deleted the "BKH" in the model numbers:
34=4-1/2"
34X=4-1/2" convertible
36=6-1/2"
36X=6-1/2" convertible

I have no idea who has these. Anyone hoping to match a gun to one of these will just have to post here and hope the current owner responds.

Good luck.

I do NOT recall ever seeing a "D" marked OM .357 in that s/n range. However, I'm in Wyoming where it's COLT and WINCHESTER country.....

Well, I've only seen a couple of "D" guns, and they live in Ohio.

As it happens, these number ranges agree with the listings in the RENE reference. There is the occasional disagreement on a particular gun.

Flatgate's post brings up a good point.

Anyone have any other "D" OM .357's they'd like to post in this thread?

If you have some you'd like to see posted but want to remain anonymous, PM them to me and I'll edit them into the list above.

Chet15, are you watching?

Would be interesting to know what ones are BKH-34 and what ones are BKH-36. And then see what guns were shipped as convertibles. I know serial number D30-98490 was shipped as a BKH-36 and in Chads notes serial number D30-38756 was shipped as a BKH-34X. D30-98270
and D30-98318 shipped as BKH-36X. D30-97708 shipped as BKH-34. D30-97559, D30-97623, D30-97682 and D30-98173 shipped as BKH-36.

OK, I have added the model number info. Note that this is the way the guns were reported to TheList. I do not have "letters" on any of them, nor does Bob.

Can you spot the first discrepancy?

Or Chet15 can produce letters proving that they are not convertibles, which I will gladly accept. FWIW, I see three discrepancies. I'll not attempt to "call in" all the guns for documentation because I don't want to wear out my welcome with the ladies in the records department, or abuse the privilege of obtaining free info.

We have never claimed that TheList is 100% accurate on any given gun. It represents what has been reported to us, or that we have seen at shows or on various internet sites.

It's a matter of "what are they right now?" Without "letters" they are just whatever they appear. Convertible cylinders can be lost or "added". Barrel lengths can have been changed. Grips and ejector rod housings are "screwdriver variations".

The value of Bob's List is the overall picture it gives of what was being shipped at any given time. When I agreed to be the "clerk" for this project, I accepted the premise that I have to "ride it like I found it". I have no problem with that.

I also browse the gun sales sites for .357 Old Models, and gather them in based on what I can see there. It's all good, as long as no one assumes it's the final word.
