Rare Savage 24?

Just handled my first... A Savage 24-something, with a 20 gauge barrel under a 357 Maximum!

Prior to this I had not even heard of this model, tho ive had a couple with rimfire barrels ove a 20.

Anyone have any detail ? :?: :?: :?:

You probably have a 24V series D, can find some info on over at:

I have a 24V Series D .223 Rem over 20 Ga and another set of barrels in 357 Mag over 20Ga, though I reamed it out to 357 Max.

The .357 max is supposed to be one of the rarest, I've got a .22 Hornet over 12Ga, not as rare but still hard to find.

24's are out there but you don't see a lot in that caliber. They vary from field grade to fancy, been around since the 40's or 50's. I have several and pick them up whenever I see one at a fair price.
