We have changed our procedure on providing serial number information: For details on your specific serial number you may contact our Service Departments:

• Rifles, Shotguns, Revolvers: 603-865-2442
• Pistols: 928-541-8892

For serial numbers manufactured prior to our electronic records, or for an official letter confirming the details on your firearm please download and mail in the Request for Letter of Authenticity form:


If you need further information, please visit our website at http://www.ruger.com or contact us at:

Revolvers, shotguns, rifles, 10/22 Charger Pistol: (603) 865-2442
Pistols: (928) 778-6555
Serial Number History Information: (603) 865-2424

The letter costs $10 dollars.

As of this date, the following appears on Ruger's website . . .

For details on your specific serial number you may contact our Service Departments at 336-949-5200.

For serial numbers manufactured prior to our electronic records or for a Letter of Authenticity, please download and mail in the Request for Letter of Authenticity form. Please Note: The Letter of Authenticity lists the serial number, ship date, model and caliber. We are unable to provide any information beyond that.

Thanks to member RSIno1 here's some info that's new to me. Hope it helps.

Now if you enter into Ruger's Serial Number Lookup at number prior to the year 2000, it will tell you its not available but provides a box at bottom of the page for the older searches. Great that much of that data is back. Thank you Ruger!
