Looking for RST4's in the 300XXX serial number range (300000 to 301500)
and T678's in the 300XXX serial number range. Please list your numbers and what barrel length it is. See what kind of matches come up or consecutive pairs.

Little more insight on what I am looking to see. T678 Mark 1's shipped 1962 to 1963. These guns will have 1/16" serial numbers. RST4's would have been shipped 1965 with 1/8" serial numbers and are actually duplicate serial numbers 300000 to 301500 serial range. here are a few examples.

300037,300841,300845,300959,300968,300979,300996 all confirmed T678 RCMP (Canada)

301146 shipped Oct. 1965 as a RST4
301146 shipped Aug 1962 as a T678

300140 RST4
300140,301060,300125,300639 all shipped 1962 as T678's

300514 shipped 6-28-65 as a standard RST4
300514 shipped Aug. 1962 as a T678 Target (I am currently looking for this gun)

300421 RST4
300522 T678 shipped June 1965

Then to add to the puzzle 301146 shipped August 1962 as a model T512. This gun has the Newport proof stamp on the barrel. This gun most likely a proto type.

Very interesting pistols in that block of numbers. Someone screwed up. I believe it is possible to find Standard Autos and MK1s with the same serial and no D.

I had at one time a RST-4 in the 300,000 range, with large serial numbers with no "D". It had "INC." on the address. With a little bit of searching I found the serial number. It's 300392

Yes, the did the same thing with the Super Single-Sixes and the Single-Sixes in the 500,000 serial number range. I wonder if the same person made both mistakes.

More than likely it came down to management not catching the mistakes. Ruger went over 3 years between 500xxx Super Single-Sixes and the fixed sight "D" guns made later. With as many guns as they made in those years I imagine it was tough for the employee to remember what he'd done...and the day book for the fixed sight guns would have continued from 499999 onward.
Pretty much the same thing with the standard autos with large #'s in the 300xxx range...another 3+ year gap. The folks at Ruger probably didn't know what happened until maybe one of the guns got returned to them.
Anyway, it probably would have been up to management to make sure those serial number sequences were different, in case somebody called in for parts or had a technical question from one model to the next.
