I wanted to verify if this is the correct box for a Standard RST, 1957 vintage?
Thanks in advance.

Yes! This box was first used for the 6 in. bl. Standard Auto RST-6, in 1954 and was used up until sometime when the digit pre-fix guns were made in 1969 to 1971. Then the red box with the white writing was used.

Thanks street, I did not realize they were used that late. Was it possible for a RST-4 to have been shipped in a 6 inch box. The original owner of a 4 inch, swore to me that his 4 inch came in a 6 inch box.

"Never say never with Ruger" With that in the back of your mind. If that RST-4 Standard was shipped in that box then it should have a sticker pasted over the end label stating the proper model number.

I once had a 6 in standard with a digit pre-fix serial number that was shipped in a 6 7/8 in MK-I box. It had the proper label pasted over the MK-I label. It was the original box as it had the serial number written on the side of the box.

Yes...Ruger used just about anything to ship their handguns if they ever ran out of a particular box. But the serial number on the box has to match the gun thats in it.
