Looked for a Marlin 1894S in 41 magnum for about eight years and a Smith and Wesson model 58 for longer than that. Of course I was looking for good guns at a great price which usually add to the time. The 1894S is this only one I have ever found that was not on some aution site. Had to change jobs to meet someone who owned one that I could buy. Still looking for a 10 inch 357 flattop OM in the box but who isn't.

Not necessarily looking for it; it took 28 years after I found it to buy it! Heard about a Ruger No.1V(serial # 73) in .22-250 in March of 1980. Took a few months to track it down. Finally was able to buy it in 2008. I have several Rugers that took 10-20 years to acquire after I found them!!

If you count the time between learning that there was such a thing as a Walther P.38 in .22LR, and actually rounding up all the parts and building one, right around 40 years (1966-2006).

The time between deciding I wanted a vintage Rem 700 Varmint in either .308 or .243 and putting away the money for it, and finding a suitable candidate priced right (a very clean 1969 build)--somewhere around 3 or 4 years.

Time I spent lusting after a Springfield Armory M1A, only to find that every time I saved up the price, they'd raised it another 20-25%, until I finally bought a PolyTech M14S--about 20 years (@1973-1993).

In 30 years I've always wanted to find an SC4 lying on a table. Never owned one so that would certainly be a highlight. I only have about 20 of them in my notes so that leaves 180 of them out there somewhere.

THIRTY FIVE years.....a K32......finally had Hamilton Bowen build one for me from a M15, an in-the-white K32 barrel, and a re-chambered K22 cylinder. It is a wonderful 32 caliber pistol. It is also how I found out the search had far transended the object desired.
AND so it goes...

Around 20 years to find my short barreled brass 41mag. But about 30 years to find a boxed 10" FT 44.

Wow, weren't there only 50 of these made? I would be very happy to find a short barelled brass frame .45.
