Are you planning on trying to re-use the pad?

If not,, I'd cut off most of it with a good band saw or whatever,, just ahead of the stock & then carefully remove what's left with a wire wheel or other tools GENTLY applied.

How do you know that it is glued on? Did you check to see if you can find some slits in the back face of the recoil pad? Could be the pad is actually screwed on and into bosses that were molded into the rear end of the stock.

Yes, as SGW notes, if done correctly , it is very hard to "see" any slits in the recoil pad,,,my bet is its screwed on.......AND ?or if its glued nothing to lose ,cut it off, take your time "neatness counts"....... 8)
