Are big bore barrels threaded the same pitch?

Super BH & Blackhawk barrels, all calibers, new and old model (large and mid frame) are:

24 TPI x .685" (11/16), (shank .618".) (same as 3rd Gen. SAA Colt)

SBH Hunter barrels are the exceptions: thread pitch and diameter varies:

.41 SBH Hunter is 32 TPI x .708" (shank diameter is .623"),
.44 SBH Hunter is 20 TPI x .747" (shank diameter is .680"), (same as Super Redhawk)
.45 SBH Hunter is 32 TPI x .703" (shank diameter is .623").

Thanks, answered 90% of my question. So, would Redhawk bbl fit a Blackhawk?

Dan,

The answer is in my post above:

"Super BH & Blackhawk barrels, all calibers, new and old model (large and mid frame) are:
24 TPI x .685" (11/16), (shank .618".)"

Is that the size of your Redhawk barrel thread? If yes it will fit a BH, if not, it won't.

Count the # of threads in a 1/2" of your barrel threads times two. Then measure your thread diameter. If it's 24 TPI x .685" you're good to go!

Well at least now you know that the Redhawk barrel is threaded the same as and will fit your SBH!

I have installed a S&W barrel on a SBH because the owner liked the looks better. But of course that barrel had to be re-threaded.

The RH barrel swap is a piece 'o cake compared to that.

Did I miss something Jim? The only overlap I see is between the Redhawk/SRH and the .44 SBH Hunter model.

Based on the above, standard production RH/SRH and BH/SBH barrels will not exchange.
