Here is a retro-10/22 I built. I has a vintage walnut Finger Groove Sporter stock, a steel receiver (from Kingston Armory), new take-off barrel and new anodized aluminum trigger housing (from Pike Arms). The steel parts were given a 5000 grit polished finish and blued in hot salts.

DARN!
I thought I had decided I didn't need any thing else firearm related.
Now I'm going to look for one of those receivers.

that is a beautiful rifle!

are the variations in the color on the blued parts reflections or is it like a case colored finished?

(BTW, my almost forgotten desire is to have a case colored receiver with matching rings/base)

Where did you order the receiver from? Brownells?
I have seen some listed on gun broker, and in Brownells.

Still no word on how to buy direct?
Kingston appears to sell only through re-sellers/middlemen?

I did find they recommend squaring the boltface as stock bolts are notorious for not being square?

Here is an offer to sell the receivers
https://www.gunbroker.com/Item/810278002
that add keeps getting relisted

I sent a query to Turnbull about having one polished and case hard/colored. Their replay reminded me I need to STOP wanting such things.

(now that YOU did remind me, I might drive by FLL and get one just in case I win the Lotto)

Yes I also contacted Turnbull about CCH, they said they would not want to perform the work unless they could verify the content of the steel.

I used the second receiver to put together this International model

I built a 3rd rifle, again using a Kingston Armory receiver (I bought 7 of them). This one has a custom stock, someone modified an original walnut stock and painted it black.

It still had the aluminum butt plate, but it was beat up and in need of a refinish

I collected the parts including:

Kingston Armory Steel receiver, polished to 5000 grit and hot blued
a factory taper 18.5" barrel, polised to 5000 grit and hot blued
a used factory aluminum trigger housing, refinished in graphite black Cerakote
aftermarket, polished bolt
factory charging handle, polished and reblued
Custom made take down screw
Custom sling swivels to mimic the original Finger Groove Sporter ones
The stock was modified by adding finger grooves, a grip cap and spacer, the aluminum butt plate was refinished in graphite Cerakote, then sanded and given a satin oil finish
