Could I get some advice on building a .224 Valkyrie on an AR15 lower receiver. Basically what is the ideal barrel twist to select for the .224 Valkyrie. I see that Palmetto State Armory (PSA) is selling a nice complete upper with a 1/7 twist. Thanks guys. :)

If you use the 1 in 7 twist you will be able to shoot heavier bullets accurately.
In my 223, 1 in 7 I shoot 90 gr sierra match kings for 400 and 500 yards use 77 gr MK for less than 400 yards.

I bought a PSA 20" Valk and an "econo-brand" 22" Valk. Both have 1-7 twist barrels but I have no real intentions of using the heavier bullets at this time. My goal is to carry a "223 SUPER" for those longer shots on coyotes so my ammo choice is the Federal Premium 60 grain BT. I was hoping to get 300 fps more velocity but I don't think that's possible w/o handloading.
The "econo-brand" was accurate enough but wasn't functional so it's gone back for a re-build. I haven't had time to really see what the PSA upper has to offer due to weather, work, and hunting but it does have potential--just not as much as hoped for.

Update:
I managed to get enough rounds through the PSA .224 Valk to get it zeroed. It's about a 3/4 MOA with Federal 60 grain BT ammo at this point. This may improve with more break-in. Good enough for 400 yard coyotes but that's about the max.
The "econo" upper is back from it's warranty return and is now functional with Federal 75 FMJ and 60 BT. Both are in the slightly under 1 MOA range after approx 60 rounds (plus whatever the factory guy ran through it during testing) down the tube. Again, just accurate enough to warrant actual field use.
If a factory load shows up with a 75-77 grain "varmint" bullet that these rifles will shoot in the 0.5-.75 MOA range, I'll call it good.
That will provide me with a solid 350-400 yard coyote terminator that's easier to carry than my long barrel 22/250.
