I bought a new bolt handle for my 7.62x39 RARR. I took the bolt apart and attempted to put the new bold handle in, it was too large. I then decided to try it in the 556 RARR and it went right in. The 556 is one of the new AR 15 mag designs. I am wondering if different calibers, or different models take different bolt handle sizes. Any info on this would be appreciated.

Did you buy the bolt handle from Ruger? If so, then I would give Ruger Customer Service a call and see what they can tell you. Even if you didn't get it from Ruger, talking to them might answer your question.
I did not buy the bolt from Ruger. I would have assumed that all Ruger American Centerfire Bolts were the same, but I found out at least that my 7.62x39 was indeed different, the cavity was smaller. I checked, no one offers a different size bolt, regardless of the manufacturer.
