Anybody know a 'smith wo does rifle barrel relines?

I have a single shot rifle that needs a relined barrel to restore a ruined bore. Would like o have it relined to a small CF caliber like .22 Hornet, .25-20, .32-20 or .25-35. It has a 26" barrel so the liner would have to be that long (Redman liners are 25").

Anybody got suggestions? Experience with the 'smith?

How about Norman Johnson up in NODAK land ? He is a BBL guy and rebores shot-out tubes but I cannot remember if he does re-lining. He is in Turtle Lake ND...

The 25" liner will be long enough because the chamber will be reamed larger and longer than the 1" the liner is short anyway, for your new cartridge.

Hondo, in this particular sad case the liner will have to include the chamber as well as the rifling--the exuberant fellow who rechambered this Hornet decided he too could get 4000 fps out of a Hornet barrel and chambered it for the .22-.30-30AI.... Wrong twist and barrel diameter, but he done her anyway. So the whole 26" needs to be replaced. Fortunately the rifle is nearly new otherwise and I got it for a garage sale price (not that you can actually buy a firearm in a garage sale in CA any more--PERISH the thought! You know how many single shots are used in drive-by shootings these days!).

But I have had guns that were even worse treated relined this way in the past. Unfortunately my 'smith who did the work has retired, which is why I'm back to playin' the field again....

Bummer, I should have known you'd have thought of that if the chamber had been OK.

Eric, I know Bolsa Gunsmithing and have seen some of their work--clearly they know their stuff. BUT (the big butt) they also have Orange County Richifornia prices, so I use them mostly for gun porn and when I need a weird size screw (they have them ALL). I had them quote me a job once and found that I could get the work done by Ahlmans in Minnesota, including shipping, for less than half their quote.... And it was done right. And fast. So while we are still "allowed" to ship guns in and out of CA for repairs, I will. Who knows, that might end and I'll be down on Bolsa Ave. with my wallet open!
