... I have an OM 45LC I need the barrel shortened. He'd also need to advise me on where & how, to safely trim weight.

If you're in the Soda springs area, Forum member "sixshot" is the person to contact. His #1 son, Shane, is a member of the American Custom Gunmakers Guild. Although that level of work is probably above your needs, he can refer you to someone who does that type of work.

With all due respect, no one is qualified to assess my 'needs',.. but me. But since ALL guns, in my opinion, are nothing but tools, then perhaps you are right... a hacksaw & Dremel will likely do just fine.

Not much one can do on a .45 Colt calibre Blackhawk. The ejector housing and grip frame are already lightweight aluminum. The cylinder is already fluted. Cutting the barrel is about the only option except for milling off some portions of the "cylinder frame" and scalloping the loading gate and left side recoil shield.
