Be shooting above in New Model Ruger Blackhawk 44 special. How does that sound as a load? Triker

Would like to be factory or just over if can do with unique. Lee shows 5.5-6.3 for 240, and Lyman shows 6.5 max for 240 and 245 except for Keith bullet at 6.9 for 245. I only run 8.0 in my 45 colt and is nice and accurate. Safe to go to 7.0 in my 44 sp.? I see lots go way over 7.0 in some guns. Thoughts? Triker

I shoot the 240 gr. Missouri Bullets coated Keith style bullet with 7.0 gr. of Unique...a nice shooting load!
No problem with that in the Blackhawk Flattop .44 Special.

Think I will load a few at 6.5 and a few at 7.0 and see what works best. Triker

According to Hornady's 10th, 6.8 gr of Unique is SAAMI pressure maximum for a 240 gr cast lead bullet with a standard OAL in a .44 Special. That yields about 1000 fps and is a soft shooting load, good for target practice and pest control.

I use the Skeeter Skelton load; 7.5 gr. of Unique and the Lyman #429241 (Elmer's bullet) in an S&W 624 .44 Spl. It should be perfectly safe in your Ruger. An excellent working load for the .44 Spl. and usually very accurate.
