Got some testing done on my .45 Special loads using the Keith/Lyman 452423 style 250 gr. bullet.
Loaded over 6.0 gr. of Unique and a COL of 1.235 I got an average of 856 FPS thru the 3.7 barrel which compares well to the conventional .45 Colt cased load using 8-8.5 Unique powder.

I plan on using these just for the .45 ACP Birds Head revolver and saving the typical ACP rounds I
load for the semi-autos.
They shoot well through the Birdie!

They are headspaced on the rim. 45 Cowboy Specials are nothing more than a 45ACP with a rim. Any load for a 45ACP will work for a 45 CS.

Had an issue of Handloader mag that had a great article on .45 Auto Rim +P loads which are same pressure as .45 ACP. The info was great as you don't normaly see these loads with .45 Colt style bullets in the short Auto Rim case.

I have exactly the same setup. Did you have to get your foereward diameter on the acp cylinder opened up? I can't get a cowboy special to seat with that type bullet sized at .452 because the driving band in front of the crimp won't slide in to the too tight throat. Round or tapered acp ball type rounds go right in.

Oh I just saw an earlier thread where you answered my question. You opened up the throat?
A .452 bullet will just push into the throat diameter.
