In one of his articles and/or books, Skeeter Skelton did a reloading article on the 32 H&R. I have one of his books (Good Friends, Good Guns Etc.) but not the other. I saw a mention on another board of loads with lead bullets that he published. I am seeking the loads mentioned in this article.

I am looking for a 1000-1200 fps load for a single six in 32 H&R brass with a lead bullet.

Thanks

From Skeeters article and Handloader #210. The loads here (some) are marked as such.

Here's some Taffin data also. I've been using 5 grains unique under a 100 grain lswc from Missouri Bullets. Very accurate in my 32 Single-Six.

I looked over the data you refer to and it is very helpful. Thank
You.

Can you tell me about your single six you are shooting the 5 gr Unique load in as to barrel length, is that load real hot in your gun, and do you have any idea what velocity you are getting? Any of this info would be helpful.

Yes but I will look again. I was looking for loads hotter than those found in loading manuals as I will be using these loads in a Ruger single six and an SP101 chambered in 327 Federal. Loading manual loads are loads suitable for 5 shot H&R revolvers.

Thanks for your concern.

I've actually thought about having my Single-Six cylinder reamed out to accept 327, but I have a lot of 32 mag brass, and no other 327 pistols, so I probably won't. These have custom cylinders, but I think someone on here had their original cylinders reamed to accept 327.

In the single six 5-1/2" gun, I have loaded 7 to 8 gr. of 2400 under the 115 rnfp, oal 1.350" and got velocities of from 1000 to 1100 fps.

Good load, shoots good, no leading. 8)

Published loads are notoriously low for the .32 mag as they are for the far weaker h&r guns that came out first. Loading to .357 pressure levels vastly improve performance. .32 mag is one cartridge that loading manuals are not worth much.

I've noticed that. The manual loads seem quite anemic. I am personally going to be working up loads in the 1000fps to 1100fps range with 95-100g bullets. I have no desire to 'push' the little .32 as I have .357 mags on up when needed.

1000 fps is pretty easy to achieve. I load 4 grains of Unique with a 100 grain lead and it averages just over that.

I shoot 4 grains of Unique under a 100 grain bullet in a Smith & Wesson J-frame 31-1 chambered in 32 Long.
One of my old Lyman books has this 32 long load in it.
