I'm going out today to collect the information that will be grounds for dismissal of at least one employee. On a job with such high expectations of integrity and honestly, there's zero tolerance for intentional shortcuts. I'm not looking forward to the outcome but I can't just ignore this flagrant violation of policy.

I suspect every boss can give numerous examples. Over my LEO career as County Undersheriff, then Chief of Police, I have had to "let go" three LEOs from my departments. I found that there was always a way to "let them resign" when it was obvious they could not remain.

With my ranching and Trucking business there has been four employees that became unacceptable. Again, I was able to arrange for them to "resign".

In each instance my good employees were always appreciative when the bad ones left, and I believe the way I handled the problems not only helped the moral of all of my remaining employees on the ranches, but improved our reputation with my Trucking customers, when those drivers left, and the general public reaction for those involved in the Sheriff and Police Departments.

Thanks Will, it's been "suggested" that rather than take the case to Washington, I just present what I have to the employee(s) and let them decide whether they want to challenge my case or just hand in their equipment.
Truthfully, I've not had to remove an employee in my previous administrative position. Just not that easy to do with Federal agencies.

How would the potential employee ever know? Someone gonna tell him?
Of course not! ps

Anything you say can be used against you.
Yes, someone will tell and usually without a subpoena.

It's not the 1970's any longer. Yes, people talk.

^^^Believe it!^^^
