Ditto from the wife and me from Oregon. We've both had cancer and so far so good. We're both praying that you will come through this ordeal safely.

The fun starts today. Short surgery to install chemo port in upper left chest. Seems the final hormone report came back a big surprise...Dr called it HR 2 Positive which means chemo NOW for 6 cycles , one every 3 weeks...then surgery and a month after that radiation every day for 2-3-4 weeks (?)....don't remember how many that Dr said...no matter that will start next year. Hang boys the ride is gonna get rough!
Again, thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

Prayers continue.
Make sure you stay on top of the surgery wound where they install the chemo port. My DIL had issues with it NOT healing,, and they didn't follow up like they should have. Caused big delays in her treatment. She still has not fully healed & it's has been several months now.
Keep us posted when you can!

Hi,

Every few days I play medical chauffeur for a lady I've known for 35 years now and has been fighting breast cancer for a while now. They did chemo first, to shrink the tumor, and thought they might get away with a lumpectomy type procedure to remove it. However, things didn't go that way: she lost one breast and the lymph nodes on that side. That was two years ago.

She still has that port, "just in case", though all the tests are reports have been good. Every four weeks it's a trip to the oncologist's office to have the port cleaned. An "oil change" is how my friend calls it. Primary doc says to talk to the oncologist about getting it out of there soon.

The "patient" says that port's been the worst pain in the neck of all they've done and can't wait to have it removed. I guess they're just not comfortable or convenient at all as time goes by. A prayer comes from SoCal that the OP's experience is much more positive and recovery is quick and complete...

Thanks again guys! Port is a pain in the neck. Still swollen and hurts. Chemo starts next Thursday....oh boy...can't wait. I don't think they will leave it in again chemo though...sure hope not.

Hang tough, Fred. This can be beaten. My wife is 10 weeks shy of her 14th anniversary as a survivor.
Lots of folks here rooting for you, add me to that list.
