A PM reminded me of the fast approaching 9th Annual Ruger Forum East Coast Gathering. I hadn't posted anything yet,, so here is the official post.
What; The 9th annual Ruger Forum East Coast Gathering
When; October 4th-6th 2019
Where; Hawkeye Gun Range, 2373 Owl Hollow Rd. Mill Spring NC
Who; Ruger Forum folks, friends of Forum folks, family of Forum folks, and anybody interested in a fun social gathering of like minded Ruger aficionados.
Casual details; Generally, on Fridays,,, I'm setting up the range & all. Casual arrival for those coming in that day. Those that do, are invited to my house for a social & dinner.
Then, Saturday,, range day & socializing. We'll be shooting whatever you bring,, and no,, they do NOT all have to be Rugers. ANY legal, firearm is allowed. We do have a safety issue,, so please be aware of normal Range Safety Rules. We'll do a briefing Saturday morning.
Saturday evening,, we'll be having a Southern cooking,, a Low Country Boil of shrimp, taters, onions, sausage. And anything else anybody wants to cook or bring. CG has always been kind enough to grace us with an interesting & delicious desert.
ANYBODY can bring any food items,, or if they want to cook something,, we do what we can to assist in that. (Badger Matt once cooked a different dish that was delicious.)

While I do have about 15-20 chairs,, some folks will bring their own.

Local accommodations that are the most reasonable are in Forest City NC. It's about 18-20 miles away,, but easy to reach & the drive isn't bad. You can find motels & such closer,,,, but due to the tourist season they are often more expensive. Many attendees choose to go to Forest City.

Other local attractions you can plan a visit too if so inclined;
Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park. (10 minutes from the range.) (Major parts of the movie; "Last of the Mohicians" filmed there.)
Shopping in Lake Lure & Chimney Rock. (10 minutes from the Range.) (Lake Lure was also the site of a fair portion of the movie; "Dirty Dancing" but most places no longer look like anything in the movie. Other movies were filmed in & around Lake Lure as well, such as "FireStarter," & other lesser known films.)
Biltmore House, located in Asheville NC. About an hour drive one way.

Sunday,, most folks start heading home,, but we are there if anybody wants to hang around & relax, shoot anything else,, or whatever.

If anybody is attending,, all I ask is to let me know so we can plan for food or any other things necessary.

Mods,,, please make this a "Sticky!"

Planning to be there and might get a friend to come with me... so just Saturday and I will once again bring a cooler with soft drinks and water. Will have just gotten back from a little side trip to South Dakota.

Tyrone,
You know Jackie and I will be there. Tell Miss Penny I will bring her the belated chocolate birthday cake and I'll probably bring some Amish whoopie pies for people to snack on at the range. Don't know what guns I'll be bringing but if anyone wants me to bring anything "special" to see/shoot (SBR, Suppressors, AR pistol) they can PM me to let me know what they might want to see/shoot.

Looks like several "regulars" will be there,, and a few from past events might make it. Shaping up to be another fun weekend already.

Any scooter races will require shooting while racing. Set distance to run the scooter,, using a timer, and scooter operator will have to engage a few targets all while controlling the scooter. We'll use .22 cal guns,, to assure better chances of hits on targets.
Scoring will be a combination of hits on the target combined with the time. :D

Prior to any firing from a moving vehicle (scooter) I will allow YOU to ride it. Solid rubber tires on hardpack dirt makes for a rather "rattley, bumby" ride. :D :D  Not too worry though, Big Old Boy isn't bringing his so there will be no races.

I’m thinking we may make it but not going to bring the scooter.
