I've got "informed delivery" from the US Post Office. So every day, I see pictures of the mail pieces that are coming to me that day.

One of the pieces was from the NRA and in big letters it said FINAL NOTICE on the envelope. Is there really such a thing from the NRA? Do they ever really stop sending letters to people?

Their fundraiser/marketing contractors try everything imaginable. I contribute quite regularly, and will continue to do so, but I wish they wouldn't allow their fundraising contractors to stoop to this "Past Due" tactic.

The American Legion does much the same. They mail for contributions, then not long later, even after I've already sent a check, I get another letter, saying 2nd Notice, Reminder, Final Notice, etc. I've discovered I've sent multiple donations for the same fundraising campaign. And I bet that's what they hope for.

Both of them take a back seat to Publisher's Clearing House. I signed up for their latest giveaway a couple weeks ago, and now I have to clear four or five emails from them out every day.

The funny thing is, I'd actually like to subscribe to a couple magazines, but I simply can't figger out how to do it on their stupid website!

Probably a final notice for their latest gun giveaway sweepstakes.

My guess is the level of your membership. A bit before Y2K they had several
membership pushes to upgrade your life membership and I grabbed each one.
That was over eighteen years ago, I'll bet I've seen a half dozen since then (less
than one every three years).

But then again, no matter who says "FINAL NOTICE" on the outside (never from
the NRA, for me) receives a less than friendly reply! I think that a profanity laced
admonishment, which normally is counterproductive, does have a place in
correspondence relating to non existent "memberships". At least it has worked
for me.

The alternative for anything from the NRA is that you have the option of their
1-800 toll free numbers to call and ask why you received such a letter. I always
get the name of the person taking the call and if they have a heavy Southern
accent, I will not hesitate to 1) confirm the person's name 2) tell them I need
to speak with their supervisor. The few times I have done this (once again, not
with the NRA) the initial request to confirm the person's name will have the call
suddenly become much easier to deal with.

:D

If the NRA would stop the mass mailings every 27 hours they wouldn't need donations.
I finally stopped all the crap they were sending me.
I went to their website and modified my membership info to an address that doesn't exist.

Pat-inCO, what does, "if they have a heavy Southern accent" have to do with how you respond to them?

It couldn't be PCH. I already got that winners notice, although I seem to have misplaced it.

In my experience, no organization is worse than AARP.

Twice, within the last 5 years, I have received “Past Due” notices from them about my membership.

I call them to inquire about this and they “look it up”. They come back and say I didn’t pay this, that, or the other.

I then ask them THAT CONSIDERING I HAVE NEVER JOINED THEIR SLEEZEBALL ORGANIZATION, how could I be late on my dues?

They say it must be a clerical error and I say give me your Supervisor because I want to know how many of these fake invoices are you sending out every day to elderly Americans who, out of not knowing better or confusion from their elder years, are actually sending you money?

Scumbag organization.
