Related to this are the dash cameras. Granted they can help you in the event of an accident that you are not at fault. If you are not certain that you are completely blameless and you erase the recording, you can wind up in deep do-do.

The best way to minimize car insurance is to always buy older cars, pay with cash, and only take liability insurance.

I use a "dash cam" in my work vehicle. In case of an accident, it will go directly into the console or glove box to be used only by my insurance company if needed later. If I'm injured badly enough I can't pop the cam off and stow it, it probably won't matter anyway.

Hi,

I have State Farm, and for some time they had a program which required me to log in my odometer mileage periodically, and I got a decent discount: spread the year's mileage over three vehicles (one driver) and it looks like I spend most of my time in the rocking chair on the porch.

Recently they dropped me from that program. Said none of my vehicles qualified, now that they have the "tattle tale" gizmo. All of my vehicles are pre-OBDII, so maybe that's why? The list of "disqualifiers" they gave me didn't mention that.

I will ask my SF agent friend about that next week when we meet for beer research. No, he isn't my agent.
