I suggest driving straight thru...you probably won't get much sleep worrying about your guns so why pay for hotel rooms!!

Good luck...

THat's kind of what I was hinting at when I posted about my long trips without an overnight stay someplace.

Yeah, you're probably right there. But it's around a 30 hour drive so exhaustion will demand some sleep at some point.

DO NOT DRIVE THRU NEW MEXICO !!!!!!!!

Hauled a friends Ford GT to Oklahoma for him and we were going to stop in Albuquerque for the night. Got off the freeway on the west side of town for fuel and it looked like a bad area so we decided to go to the east side to see if it was better. It was worse the motel had 10' chainlink and razor wire. The church across the street had bars on the windows. We kept driving.

Been there, done that. Moved 240 guns and hundreds of pounds of ammo 2500 miles. All the stuff the moving company wouldn't move.
Best advice is rent a motorhome, take a dog or two, sleep in the mh on well-lit or patrolled property, and pay someone to follow you in a separate vehicle.
Sound extreme? Aside from the risk and liability, even a single rookie cop can ruin your day in these times.
I wouldn't do it again without a "chase" car.

I must not have that many.. in thinking about this I think I could get all mine packed tight in a foot locker.... put some wheels on it or a small hand truck and I'd just take it into the room with me.

But you know by the time you decide to move out of California, you probably will have had to dispose of most of what you have now.

Aren’t they worth more in Ca? Sell them there and buy replacements when you get to your new home.

Like Blume said the ones you keep take inside with you.
