They're gonna lay you flat on a stainless steel table in a very cool room and tell you DO NOT MOVE 'cause they're going into your femoral artery. The key thing is make sure you're gonna be comfortable for up to an hour. It wasn't until my third one that I said “You know, my back starts cramping after about ten minutes, do y'all have any sort of lumbar support?” They did and were happy to make me comfortable. But the key is, if you need anything like that, do it before they stick you. Once they open up that artery there ain't no moving around.

Hmm, they didn't offer me any back support or neck support which was what I really needed. But quite frankly, while I was a bit uncomfortable, I really didn't care too much what they were doing. They probably could have said they were going to lop off a few fingers for fun and I would have said sure, ok. I remember feeling super relaxed and mellow through most of it. Only the beginning part was uncomfortable, and maybe a bit when they were finishing, closing the incision site.

It is a scary procedure,at least to me. But mine was uneventful and I was told that they are quite routine and done by the thousands..
I hope yours also goes well and they find solutions to whatever cardiac issues there are. Sent a short prayer on your behalf. Give us an update when you can.

I'm sorry, but I was remiss in not wishing you the very best. I'm sure you'll do well. Don't worry. It won't help you or the ones you love. Take care.

Done it once, while looking down into the valley, damn table is not comfortable for sure... they did give me a pillow....

Actually, they put me back on the table two days later to take the impeller out... the only real gripe I have is I can still feel the stitches in my artery.

Really don't want to go through that again....

good luck

Good to hear. I've had 4 caths done at McLaren and 2 at Harper's newer Heart Hospital
in Detroit, I'll skip McLaren unless it's an emergency type thing.
