I filled my '78 LTD II Sports Touring edition last week with 91 octane. $3.959 gal. ouch

It's expensive gasoline, but it's what this one needs.

Yeah, my wife and I were loosely thinking of trading our F150 in for a new 2019 GMC 1500. I can't verify it, but one review says the 1500 Denali with the large 6.2 liter V8 takes premium gas. That kind of turned us off on the idea of a new truck.

You guys are funny, complaining about mid to high $2 a gallon gas. It's been pushing (and occasionally over) $4 a gallon here for a long time.

AND thanks to crooked Democrat politicians all those TAXES are no longer called "GASOLINE TAX" so now they can waste it on anything their heart desires.
The old Southern Calif Auto Club way in the past got it in the Cal STate Constitution that a GASOLINE TAX could ONLY be used for road projects; ie: new construction or maintenance; now their "excise taxes " go for any and everything BUT roads.

I can't imagine a stock 78 Windsor engine requiring anything higher than 87 octane. Compression was around 8.4:1. If it pings its running lean or has a faulty EGR or has carbon buildup or the timing is advanced.

I don't worry so much about gas prices, but when our crooked democraps in Chicago just added another 19 cents per gallon that really pisses me off.

Plus the tags for my little 5x10 utility trailer are going from $18 a year to $118 a year.

That is a great car! Is yours the green like the picture? I bet you get a lot of compliments about it.

When I was in high school, my dad had a 4 door Ford LTD. Pretty fun to drive but I don’t remember what gas it took. I’m sure it wasn’t the best gas mileage either.

Oh, yeah. Forgot about that aspect. My regular old 3/4 ton pickup was $699 to register this year. Thanks again Commiefornia democrats.

It’s not a windsor. It’s a modified with all the California smog stuff to start. A few minor alterations have been made.

Another 4 cents a gallon drop this morning. Who can keep up with these prices? What a roller coaster lately. At least it's coming down instead of going up.

As luck would have it this is the centerfold of the Ford brochure. Mine is the same trim and color.

Around here when the oil companies want to do a price increase they conveniently have a "refinery fire". My theory is they have a waste pond or waste pipe that they light off whenever they need a "refinery fire" so they can then justify their price increase.

If you have ever been in a refinery fire you'd know they would never fake one. People get killed in those things way too often.

In stock form compression is 8.2:1. That's 87 octane territory. If you have milled the heads or used closed chamber heads that will raise the c.r.
Nice car, btw.
