This video was made in Cades Cove, which is part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

What's wrong with people!? If the bear had even touched the guy, it would have been euthanized and it would have been from the stupid actions of the person.

Bears are more tame in the Cover... but the guy was lucky.. this time!

That guy should go buy a lottery ticket. He isn't very smart but he is certainly very lucky.

I really think that some people believe that because they are in a National Park that everything is safe and friendly. A few years ago in Sequoia National Park I had the interesting experience of seeing a mother bear with two cubs come out into a clearing, and then a big male bear come out, probably to attack the cubs. The cubs climbed a tree and the much smaller female faced down the big male until he backed off and ran into the woods. This whole episode lasted about an hour and there were several other people there along with myself and my wife. One of the other visitor's children said she wanted to go over and try to pet the cubs because they were so cute, and the Mom said OK, but be careful. Fortunately wiser heads prevailed and told the woman and the little girl that this would be highly dangerous and even a small female bear could be deadly when defending her cubs. About that time two park rangers arrived and kept everyone back about 75 yards from the bears activity until all the bears went back into the forest. Some people seem to lose their senses when in a National Park.

I'll bet if mama bear had been in the mood she could have easily
fixed stupid in this case!
Could have made a major dent in it anyway.

I grew up not to far from there. They should start charging a fee to let people into Cades Cove and also into the Smoky Mountain National Park. All the other national parks do. It would help keep some of the destructive idiots out.

1960/1961 I worked for the NPS. Didnt see it but heard about a father that put his kid on the back of a bear to take a picture and the bear killed the kid! 1960 in Yosemite I and my boss came up on a guy sneaking around his car with a shotgun fixing on shooting a beggar coyote a older lady was feeding. My boss skidded to a stop in front of him and asked for the shotgun. Guy says "Nobody is going to take my gun!" The boss grabbed the gun and both were grappling over it. I got in on it and we got the gun. We made a citizens arrest and had him follow us to a ranger station. Actually I felt a little bad about it as his wife and kids were in the car watching.

Some have little to lose.

Years ago my wife and I attended an art festival at a small private college. A pair of geese had nested on top of the outlet drain of a small runoff pond. A boy, maybe 8, was slowly walking toward the nest. We looked at each other, and shook our heads---this would be a learning experience. Sure enough, he got too close, and the male attacked, beating him fiercely with his wings. The boy ran crying to his mother. Mother Nature can be a mean mother.

Geese...
Used to play hockey on a Senior open team at what was Compuware Ice Arena in Plymouth Mi.
The place was real nice with ponds and landscaping etc. Also home to lots of geese who decided
they "owned" the sidewalks and some of the parking areas. The birds would go after people all
the time if you got anywhere near them. Well hockey players usually have sticks and aren't always
in the best of moods to get attacked by a goose.
Eventually the rink had to post signs about not beating the geese to death if attacked and
all the stuff that would happen to you if caught. Stand your ground laws didn't apply for
goose attacks.
They would cone off parts of the walks and parking sometimes to avoid the combat.
