Been through there many times going in every which direction. Small historic railroad town from the days of the original Transcontinental RR. It used to be called "Humbolt Wells" until the place burned down and the call went out via telegraph: "... Wells is burning ...". After it was rebuilt, the name was shortened to just "Wells".

I used to do a lot of work that took me through that crossroads. (I-80 and SR 93) I'll bet Bella's will be doing a land office business with all the investigations! ;)

.....no, only 22 cars of the train derailed.......and it was not the section that (allegedly) contains military munitions.
...........nothing to see here..........move along........move along.

Ok. But I wonder what caused the derailment. Looked like a pretty straight track - no curves in the video. Nothing in the news about the cause.

That wasn't aimed at you Gunny.....it was aimed at the "news" outlet that chose to title it the way they did. As to the cause's....ain't no tellin. I have seen them pop off the tracks for no (apparent) reason other than the sun was shinning and the wind was blowing. Only later, after they clean up the mess, will they be able to sort out the why's. :D

There is one section in CO passing by a town called Niwot that had
several derailments. It's a straight section with virtually no grade to it.
After the second one in (IIRC) two years, they brought in a long car that
lifts the tracks and straightens the run. - - - Funniest thing, no derailments
since they ran that by.

Once again IIRC it takes an hour and some per length of track to get it
straight, so they tend not to use it very much, if they can avoid it.
