The joys and relaxation of shooting sitting down. I like this.

So sad--and a such a ruger legacy I will always remember him by
-the 7.5 old model single six that WMG spoke of
-correcting the timing on new model single action blackhawks
-old army springs in blackhawks
-new model lock fix (pics only for liability reasons!)
-hot 100 grain 32 mag loads
-s/n 100 facination

The list goes on and on, but as most have said it was his communication with the newbie that made us comfortable and welcome and desiring to visit often. I remember sharing a story of acquiring my first old model Super Blackhawk (a 4 digit) and his response to the board of how he enjoyed the great story I had posted. Made me feel great!

Rest in peace, Carl. You are sorely missed

Ron

Well we had a little different connection than most on here. Both our Dads flew in B-17s on the same missions with the 15th Air Force. His Dad was in the 99th Bm Gp. and my Dad was in the 97th. I gave Carl some pictures that my Dad took while on those missions and he held them very dear to his hart.
I had those pictures for 60years or so and could not think of a better person to share them with. :D
This forum was and is not just about guns as most of you know.

I too remember Flatgate very fondly. I learned a great deal about my Blackhawks from him and others here.

My Super Blackhawk with which I hunt has an Old Army mainspring at his advice to increase lock time.

When I came back on the board after a bit of a hiatus, one of the first questions I had for a couple of the other "old timers" was "What's the scoop on Flatgate?".

Prayers for his family and for all of you who were closer to him than my incidental time in knowing him.

Aqualung

I never had the pleasure of meeting Flatgate, but we exchanged a couple of emails. He seemed to be a true gentleman, as well as a wealth of knowledge. I am sad to hear of his passing, but know he is in a better place. He is missed, I do know that. I like to think of him, Skeeter, Elmer, Bill Jordan, and Bill Ruger, all sitting around a campfire swapping lies. Perhaps one day I'll be able to join them.

I remember "his path down the hill" illustrative posts and knew he was beyond expert level in skiing. I ski but not at that level.

It's sad to hear of his dying from cancer...and just not being around any longer.
