UP.FRONT......... Flatgate's passing was new news and a surprise. Carl was, and always will be, one of my very special and best Friends. As W M noted so eloquently earlier, Carl drove this Forum and when his situation dramatically changed, Carl asked that I quietly become owner of our RUGERFORUM.COM. Our moderators and support team have kept us on a stable and even keel. At this time, upgrades and support changes are being considered along with cost factors we have never experienced. Will keep our members advised of changes, costs, and progress as they occur. For now, it remains "Adios Carl, will miss you, your advice, stories, quips and jokes. Am certain we will meet in St Peter's deluxe shooting range." Love you, My Brother. SPLITZ

Sad to hear. I remember the drive to fill his collection. I was an eager participant. He will be sorely missed. RIP Carl....

My experience and connection with Carl had absolutely nothing to do with guns although we met on this forum. He helped me through a very dark period in my life, as did others of our oldtime members. I shall keep those memories to myself but i will say this: i owe him more than i could ever hope to repay.

Rest in peace, my friend.

Peace and God bless, Wolfsong.

Wow! I knew of his situation, but still thought he was the forum owner still. I'm so surprised we didn't hear of this sooner! Although he hasn't been on in a while he will still be sorely missed. RIP friend.

While I never had the pleasure of knowing Carl, I do thank him for the ability to corral us here. RIP.

I've often wondered how Flatgate was doing ever since he posted, "I'm fighting cancer" a long while ago. I never thought I should ask and I thought he'd tell us when the time was right. God bless him and may he rest in peace.

well said 'Splitz' as well as many of the others here, yes, Carl "Flatgate" Laco will be a name for any of us to never forget, and he will be missed, and sadly he never did teach me "how" to ski, let alone "make snow",,,,,Mothers Natures job always and now he is with our Lord...Rest in peace Carl
Thank you Sir for leading us.........

Here is my favorite picture of Carl , with AZ and WmG (as I used to kid Flatgate) looked like they were at a Jimmy Buffet concert.........

Rugerbreath will be missed by lots of people.
I remember how he would answer somebodies question on the forum and add RTFM at the end.
Saw him at a Winchester show in Cody one time. He was wearing his t-shirt and shorts outfit. I said to myself that sure looks like Flatgate, then someone walked up to him and said "what the Hell are you doing at a Winchester show" that's when I knew it was Carl. We communicated by e-mails on various occasions.

RIP Mr. Laco

Dana

Sad news :( I remember him helping me when I was a newbie. One thing went right over my head--woosh. He could have rolled his eyes, but he didn't. He just spelled it out for me very kindly. Rest in Peace, Carl...

RIP flatgate. I only met him one time but he made a lasting memory. Last I heard he was working for Freedom Arms. I never knew. He'll be missed.
