In church. Reading my Bible. A neighbor, Sister ______ commented on it. I said I was looking for loopholes. I am going to burn :P greg

That statement has been attributed to W. C. Fields, who was said to have been seen in his room one day reading the Bible (not something he was know for). When asked what he was doing reading the Bible, he reportedly said "Looking for loopholes, just looking for loopholes."

Hi,

Had you just watched a rerun of the movie "Dead Man Walking?" I did a couple of days ago, and they used almost the same wording! The nun, Sister Helen Prejean, had told the condemned inmate the W.C. Fields story earlier... ;)

Greg, you should probably definitely not tell your friend the quote from Mark Twain, as close as memory lets me quote it:

"You go to heaven for the climate, and hell for the society."

As funny as I've thought that is from the first time I read it, decades ago, there are folks who just don't see the humor in it... :oops:
