I had ordered this Ruger Vaquero Sheriff .44 Special Revolver back when I first heard Lipsey's had placed a special order for them. My gun shop owner finally called to tell me to come down and do the paperwork and pay for it.

The new Ruger looks great and is in one of my favorite calibers. I have 10 days to wait for it, so no photos yet but it looks the same as the ones listed on GunBroker.com.

I think I will be very pleased with this revolver... Very Happy

Mine is blue, but I understand that SS may be available as well.

Yes, Lipsey's lists it in SS also. Also a standard 4 5/8" length blue Vaq in 44 Spl.

You'll love it; it's a very handy size. I don't know why they have to charge so much more than the 44 Flat tops. Yes, they'll sell but is it what the market will bear or is it economy of scale? Maybe Lipsey ordered a smaller quantity of these compared to the 2000 flat tops they ordered.

Are you talking about a Vaquero sheriffs model?Simular to the Montado?Or how is it different from the Montado?

It is essentially a Montado except for some reason they chose to install the high spur New Vaquero hammer. No problem for me, I have a spare SBH hammer laying around and hey presto, styled to my taste.

Mine is Blued also and I like what I see so far! I do have to agree that I don't understand why this model sells for more than the Ruger Flattop .44 Specials did?

Only seen pictures, but they look mighty nice. Can't decide on the Sheriff model or the bisley.

The things that drive production costs are sometimnes counter intuitive.

I don't think it's a higher polish because they look just as dull or matte as the standard model.
It might have to do with a smaller quantity.
Or it might have to do with the barrel length. Ruger always made fewer 4 5/8" barreled guns because there was more waste in a standard length of barrel stock. Maybe there is more waste with 3 3/4" barrels.
Maybe it's a premium they can get because buyers are willing to pay more for a special edition.
Those are the reasons I can think of; it may be a combination of those or none of those!

Those are all good points. Also, I agree that the Current Blued models have the same quality of finish that the blued Blackhawks. I will say the finish (polishing) on the older blue "CCH" Vaqueros, was much nicer. The stainless models, well they are mirrors.

On the Ruger site, the Vaquero's are MSRPing for $679, blue or stainless. The stainless Blackhawks are within $2.00, the blue models are $123.00 less MSRP? The SBH's are within $30.00.

We could bring up fitted gripframes, vs alloy gripframes, but then there's the .44 spc, with the fitted gripframe.

Real world price for the .44 spc Vaqueros is in the ballpark for the std production Vaqueros.

Who knows, the market bears it, so...
