Sounds to me like he just didn't think about it.

I can't think of a situation where if I was pulled over for a routine traffic stop that I'd give an LEO permission to search my vehicle without a search warrant. I've been pulled over for "routine traffic stops" about 20 times and I've never been asked for permission to search. I'm not looking forward to testing it though Wink

I agree the story is lacking...

I would be very cautious about this one as I believe the law is worded that it is legal if the bar allows carry but there is not requirement about signage. I think it might be necessary to talk to the owner to find out exactly what their policy is before carrying in a bar.

You're right. The wording from the bill is somewhat vague. As I understand, one of the purposes of the new bill was to remove some of the vagueness about where you could and couldn't carry.

I've gone on several "rides" with the police, and it seems that certain individuals are more prone to searches than others.

This is the perfect asshat that the anti's, like the Brady Center, will parade to champion their causes.

The guy was a moron for letting a parking dispute escalate to this level.

How is this guy any different than any of us would be with kids in school? So what do you do with your weapon if your are out running errands before you go pick up your kid at school? Go all the way home and drop it off then go get your kid? Unless this guy was a real pain in the butt to the cop, I feel for the guy. Whether he told the cop or not that he had a weapon in his car it sounds like he is guilty according to their law, which is ridiculous! Anyway, just saying before you bash the poor guy what would you do?

It's legal to take your Concealed handgun onto school property if Liscensed to carry here in Texas when picking up your Kid from school. Also legal to lock it up in the car if you need to go into the school!
What this guy did since it seems to be unlawful in Nevada was plain Stupid!

I keep hearing the 'running the plate' thing. A lot is being assumed with this... first that the LEO can get a very quick responce to your tag number, 2nd that you are driving your car. What if you are driving someone elses....this even goes to the opposite direction. How is the LEO, even if they do get the info that the owner of the car has a CWP to know that you are the owner.... you could be a little old lady that just borrowed your son's car.... and the police are going to surround you and call in SWAT because of what a clerk says on the radio?

the original article / post is about a real problem most states have.... we have gotten way too lax in believing this stupid blanket rule that 'it's all for the children'.

If something is not done... we will give up all our liberties 'for the children's sake.'
