Image found on other web site. Owner fired 7 or 8 times w/o hitting target.
Whew, some folks are clueless......

Wowzers...where did the gas compression from the 2nd, 3rd, and on shots go? I don't see a bulge anywhere. Even a 22 should have distorted it some, maybe, I think.....Mom used to say my skull was like that. RB _________________ I said to she who will be obeyd, what gun?

Simply Awesome....!
The knuckleheadedness of the shooter of that gun is astounding. The folks at Ruger would LOVE to see that one...maybe would make a great "gallery" submission there |

Is that a 44 mag? The bore/barrel dimensions made me think it was a 22 at first. Yet the jacketed bullets, and the pinned front sight made me think 44 mag.

Not with a collard base pin. Has to be bigger or mybe a 30 carbine.
Wall thickness look to thick for 44 or 45.

from the looks of the 'bullets' looks like 38 wadcutters, possibly copper -clad,?? to us, in a new model stainless 357 Blackhawk...besides, that would most likely be the max pressures with out, some sort of "bulge" taking place...saw the same thing years ago, in a Dan Wesson, but they at least have the barrel , within a 'shroud' which kept it from coming apart ( blowing up...) _________________ Dan

You Old Model fans are forgetting that the New Model .357 Blackhawk is made on the large frame, complete with a collared base pin. All the stainless Blackhawks have pinned in front sight blades, as do the 4-5/8", 5-1/2" and 7-1/2" Supers.
You "old timers" are also forgetting the story on page 85 in John Dougan's Know Your Ruger Single Actions: The Second Decade 1963-73.
John's statement is appropriate in this case, as well.

Thanks Flatgate. I've been shooting a 4" blue Security Six for 36 years and have always known they are STRONG. I'm amazed at the structural integrity of Rugers. I had no idea they were this strong. Nary a bulge.
I've had one squib in my .44 Magnum 4" Redhawk. Never had one in any other firearm. I knew immediately something was wrong. First, there was not the expected report/recoil. Second, nothing hit the target. I immediately unloaded the cylinder and dropped my pencil down the barrel. It didn't come out the other end. Range officer knocked it of the barrel for me.
Next day I bought a 5/16" brass rod and made two 8" and two 10" squib pushers. Now I have one of each in my shooting bag along with a small brass hammer. _________________ Hugh

There's quiet a bit of bulge, there's just no ring. The whole mid section of the barrel is swoll' up.
They're .357's, they look smaller because the barrel isn't cut down the middle. |

The funny thought that I had was that he tried to tweak the front sight with a hammer when he saw the bullets were not hitting the target. _________________

yeah, its tough to be able to cut it out and get to the "middle" ...so here's what a smaller bullet may look like.........
