I do not mean to rain on a parade......However, this seems a very, very large number. Seems a distant repeat of the Ross Gun, Alpha Bearcat, skipped SN syndrome(s). Will believe it when I see some form of proof and I will obviously not hold my breath............Just doesn't seem that a 9MM short/380 lights up that many folk's life. It doesn't mine, but that is a vision of the science of individual differences.........think of this: a thousand guns ordered by 87 distributors? There are not even 87 distributors. Maybe not even 20. So, If there were twenty major distributors, did each of them order 4,000 of these.........Consider the logic of an outside viewer and tell me what you see. Maybe my eyes is goin' bad.... but I didn't see anything said about 87 distributors.
But I agree, 87K in a week, seems a bit far fetched. _________________ John ~ "Whatever trips yer trigger!" ~ Molōn labe! |

8,700 would be a pretty fair number. I think they sell about 15,000 Gp's a year.
I hope they sell a million myself. Good for them and good for us.

87 is only an "illustration" for the absurdity of the number....I go on to say that even if there were 20 distrbuors, the number of 87,000 is "quite unique".......I think it closer to 8700.............Splitz _________________ SPLITZ

Gee, I guess I'll throw away my Walther.
Is there really a market for this?

Tell you what, I was really scepticale about the 380 when I was looking for a CC shootin iron, but I bought a Bersa, looks a lot like a Walther for a lot less money and I am really impressed with this little round at close range.
If Ruger had one out, I probably would have leaned their way.
Like this thing a lot more than I thought I would!

Shhh.... Don't tell anyone, since this is the Ruger forum, but my favorite little range toy at this time is my Sig P232 .380. Sexy little number.

Just for a little perspective - I live in a very small state, which has nowhere near the craving for handguns I've seen during my trips to (say)Florida gun shows.
One medium-sized dealer here has told me he has had five (5) of the .380 Rugers on order , for stock, since a dealer's show he attended B4 S.H.O.T.
I would opine that Ruger considers a gun "ordered" as a gun "sold" - since it's "down the road" by their standards, and I doubt they care if every one they make sits in some warehouse for the next 50 years.
As I found out, while working as a commissioned salesman - all those little numbers add up to a surprisingly large figure. _________________ Experience is a wonderful thing - It lets you recognize a mistake, when you make it again. |

Thinking the same thing. 87k is just too large of a quantity for an initial unproven model, especially for a pistol chambered in a cartridge that's for a great many, minimal at best as a defensive round.
Looking at Ruger's serial #'s on thier site, it took almost 4 years for 50,000 P345's to go out the door. It appears to have taken 6 years for nearly 89,000 22/45's to go. I just don't see the same number of LCP's being preordered. They'd be backordered for years if it were true. |

| I just went to their web site to look this thing up. It looks like a cross between the Taurus and Kel Tec. Would like to see one in person as I really like the .380 and have a Kel Tec in that caliber. Would be curious to see how it shoots. Here's hoping that they hit the streets soon, and if they have that I can find one to look at. |
