I like anywhere from 5.0 to 7.0+ of TITEGROUP in 44 magnum brass, lead bullets ranging from 200 to 270 grains. I also use HP38 in similar charge weights. You get a lot of loads out of an 8 pound keg and 10,000 primers!
Go over to castboolits.gunloads and look around some. They have some interesting moulds in the group buy section. A full wadcutter in 44 or 45 caliber makes an interesting hole in a target. |

I do like Titegroup overall as a faster handgun powder. Of course it's in the same ballpark as Bullseye. I use it in the 9mm,45acp,45 Schofield, a little 45 Colt & others. There is data at Hodgdon with it for most handgun rounds. There is a favorable 'powder profile' article in the current Handloader magazine about Titegroup.
The one little caveat I would say is you have to be careful measuring those potentially tiny charges of the powder. A little goes a long way. I weigh often, but use a 'little dandy' powder measure with an after-market adjustable rotor. You surely don't want to over charge Titegroup. |

sourdough44,
I am on top of checking load weights real frustrating last night with trailboss could not get it to flow in a uniflow powder measure, I went to weighing all loads and adjusting with a trickler. Thinking of updating to
a digital scale and powder dispenser, along with a dillon square deal?
have you worked with auto comp?

Gotcha,
I haven't used the Autocomp but the Titegroup works pretty well for plinking loads in 44Spl, 44Mag, 41Mag and 45Colt with lead bullets. All the loads I have shot are in the 700-900 fps range so no burners.
I would recommend Clays also as a very good powder for lead. It uses lower charge weights, is clean and consistent. I have also bought some Clay Dot to try out (supposed to be the "equivalent" powder in shotguns).
Thanks,

| Has anyone else experienced erratic charge weights with TiteGroup? Got some recently and have had difficulty getting consistent charge weights with three different measures - A Lyman 55, a Redding, and the one on my Dillon 450. Have checked with two different electronic scales, same results. Trying to throw a load of 6.2 grains for a cowboy/action level load in .44 magnum. Help? |

I used titegroup for cowboy loads in .44mags, loaded 4.0 grains from a Lee turret press and measure, no problems with it. Gave about 650fps out of 4 5/8 vaqueros over my chrono. Also loaded quite a bit of Trail Boss at close to the same weight for similar results velocity wise. I used these in a 1894 Marlin also, a small problem in the Marlin was the cases didn't expand much and sometimes the gas would flow down the groove for the extractor in the receiver and out the back of the bolt and into your eyes, nothing major but need to have safety glasses on. I was using 180g FP bullets. |
