I have noticed that in different months the requirements for the match are always at different distances. One was 15 yds (45 ft), one at 7 yds (21 ft), and one at 25 yds (75 ft). I shot .22 pistol competition for years and it was always at 50 feet. Why the different distances? _________________ Someone who thinks logically provides a nice contrast to the real world. |

| Some of it has to do with customary shooting distances, SD expected 7 yd min distance to beat a knife, and many outdoor ranges are limited to 7, 15, and 25 yds with no ability to modify the distance. |

Mike ... I can't speak for anyone else, but in the matches that I set up for November & December, I selected the distances based on what I thought would be challenging for the targets used and firearms specified. Since we don't have a March match set up yet, maybe you could suggest one that we could shoot at 50 feet _________________ "We will always remember. We will always be proud. I would second that, and add that some ranges have 10 yards instead of 15.
Most of the ranges I have been to have fixed target stands, and you are stuck with whatever they have.

My impression of these matches is that they are mostly for fun and not too serious. If we are lucky enough to have someone take the time to organize a match, it is up to them to set the rules.
Kind of late for a March match, no? |

I am not suggesting anything. I don't want to start the next Match or anything else; I simply was wondering why the different distances. You answered my question; thanks. _________________ Someone who thinks logically provides a nice contrast to the real world. |

Normally, handgun accuracy is tested at 25 yds, just as rifles are at 100 yds. (Both rested from the bench) Shotguns are patterned at 40 yds except the .410 which is 25 yds... (At least in my "old school" world... ) _________________ "Five beans in the wheel" |
