I just bought my winter time project. I was not looking for another Garand but the price was right. A Springfield, late 1944. First is a complete disassembly, clean ,and inspect. I think she will be a good shooter.

That's a fantastic winter project SJ.

It will be interesting to see how it turns out for you.

Good luck.

Looks good like it is.

I'd like one too.

Got to fire a couple of rounds through one last spring.

The clips hold how many?

Nice wood for a military weapon.

Nice looking old gun you got there.
I get real excited about M1 Rifles, and especialy M1 "projects"......and even more-especialy about "shooter" projects. So be sure and keep us in the loop.

Thanks for the pictures.

I am curious. Was that a CMP purchase or a private sale?

Fine looking rifle. I got my 1942 M-1 Garand from the CMP about 4 years ago.

Very nice peice if you have as much fun with it as I'm having with my new M1A you'll be just like me ,my face hurts cauce I still have that goffy grin on my face that I had in the pic I posted last week showing my new gun! My Dad carried one in the E.t.O. as a foward obsever/scout for the 825th tankdestroyers and he never talked much about the war but he sure talked about that M1 he loved it said it was the only reason he lived through it ,Lou

Desert Dawg The Garand clips hold 8 rounds, but some have been modified to hold five.
Coop, Not CMP, a private sale. A friend bought two M 1 Garands and was nice enough to share with me. My cost = $325.00 and yes like cruzerlou I am still smiling.
