Old thread back from the dead...
Just to point out that Hamilton Bowen offers this service on his web site with the original type front sight :
NO. B303 SHORTEN 'HUNTER' MODEL BARREL Factory barrel is shortened to ejector housing length and recrowned; the lettering is carefully removed. The...
A quarter seems to fit reasonably well.
I use a Wheeler FAT (Fire Arm Torque) driver which came with a tip that fits the slots perfectly.
I use a bit of blue thread locker, and tighten them to 30 inch lbs.
I don't have one of the 357 Redhawks but want to comment in general.
Even if you have an initial problem, at least Ruger is good about fixing it. I HATE that I would say that but it's true.
I got a Redhawk Kodiak Backpacker in a trade. It seemed fine when dry firing and with moderate powered...
I have a Bisley Hunter 44 that I have been shooting and experimenting with for 6 or 7 years now.
In had a bit of custom work done on it, and have done a good bit of fire lapping on the barrel which has improved the accuracy.
I originally put a Burris 2-7x32 scope on it. First off, using the...
Herrets makes grips to fit your hand and are pretty reasonably priced as well. http://www.herrettstocks.com/
Jack Huntington http://www.jrhadvancedgunsmithing.com/ does grips made to fit and I can personally attest to the improvement in shooting comfort they provide. He (at least on Bisley...
I have not handled enough Redhawks to get a grasp on the typical gap on them. I have seen somewhat narrow gaps and a few wide ones as well. The wider gap isn't so much a problem as a point of preference.
I have a SRH made in 1996 that has a .004" gap which seems reasonable. My Hunter was...
The Redhawk and SRH are a tiny bit stronger, but the SBH is more durable if that makes sense.
The RH and SRH will take a (slightly) bigger bang, but shot for a lifetime with full power loads, a SBH should hold up (slightly) better.
I have a Bisley Hunter in 44. I would say mine is a lot like...
I tried the Burris FF3 (3moa) vs an Ultradot 30 (4moa), and I found I could acquire my target faster with the Ultradot and chose to stick with that for hunting use.
My SRH currently wears a Matchdot II which has an adjustable dot size (2moa for target use or 4-6 moa for hunting).
The FF3...
I ordered mine on Amazon. The grip used to be called a 'Gripper', and now is called a 'Decelerator' on Lyman's web site. Amazon uses both names.

A lot of people complain about the fit. Mine needed a very...
The Kodiak has the round butt frame, so traditional Redhawkgrips which leave the frame exposed will leave a gap.
On mine I use a Pachmayer Gripper-Decelerator which I have found to be very comfortable to shoot recoil wise, and it fits my hand OK, though I wish there were a bit more rubber...
