At least the new version is made using the post-2007 barreled action with the improved gas system and heavier barrel. It has a much better probability of hitting the target than the old A Team versions. :p
I guess you could buy a new Mini-14 stainless Tactical Model (MSRP $1489), add a Samson...
One sling I cannot recommend is the web sling from Tech Sights. It is very similar to the post war M1 Garand slings but made in 1" width. The issue was the metal tab on the end was too thick to pass through the factory sling swivels.
I ended up buying a length of 1" nylon webbing and some...
The current MSRP for a Ruger Mini-14, SKU # 5801 which is the blued, wood stocked Ranch Rifle and is shipped with two 5 round magazines is $1259. Most "big box" retailers here in California sell them for $1100 or so unless they are running a sale and then it's ~ $1049. Add anywhere from 7.75% to...
If a new Mini-14 rifle will shoot 2 MOA with good ammo I'll be happy. I suspect they can shoot a little better with select handloads but the current supply of new, unfired brass, suitable powders and target grade or premium hunting bullets is another story.
I located some Winchester M855 62 gr...
I just ended up buying a new Mini 14 Ranch Rifle. Any local retailers who had used Mini 14's wanted almost as much for them as a new in box gun and the private party sellers were offering guns that had been monkeyed with or modified to make them tacticool.
While I generally feel that older...
Would a newer 584 Series gun have come with a hardwood stock and handguard and curved aluminum buttplate or has it been monkeyed with and has an older stock fitted ? Pictures of more recent Ranch Rifles I have seen online show a hardwood stock w/ plastic handguard and rubber buttpad.
Seems like...
I have decided that a Mini 14 would be a useful firearm to have. I understand that the 180 series and above are greatly improved over the originals. I have looked at a used 195 series gun in excellent shape for a reasonable price (for California anyway). It is marked .223 caliber. That would put...
Thanks Rocdoc. I downloaded the certificate for my Bisley Flattop Blackhawk .44 Special with the 5 1/2" barrel (Mfg. Model 5235) that I bought new in 2010. However the certificate does not state how many were made like some of the other certificates.
My notes say that only 500 each were made in...
Do you have to be a dealer registered with Lipsey's to print that Certificate ? I went to their website, looked in the FAQ's and it says serial number lookups can be accessed under the My Account tab. And it looks like to set up an account you must be a Type 01 FFL.
Or is there another way ?
Contender, I bought fully formed .256 Win Mag brass from a company called Jamison. Midway shows it as discontinued but other suppliers list it as backordered. You may be able to find some if you look around. I load it with standard Redding dies, 2400 powder and Hornady 60 gr. flatpoint bullets...
I have a Ruger Hawkeye in .256 Magnum and also a Smith & Wesson Model 53 in .22 Remington Centerfire Magnum, the official name for the .22 Jet cartridge. Privi Partisan (PPI) makes ammo for the .22 Jet but ammo for the .256 Winchester Magnum is pretty much a handloading proposition these days...
SOLD PENDING FUNDS: Old Model, 3 screw Ruger Blackhawk Flattop .357 with the desirable 4 ⅝” barrel. Catalog # BKH3. Has original grips and XR3 grip frame. Micro rear sight. Overall near excellent with just a tiny bit of holster wear to cylinder flutes and high edges and a few miniscule freckles...
You can also use black shoe dye (not shoe polish). It is usually found along with the shoe polishes and leather care items at a grocery store for just a few bucks. A lot easier than mixing up a batch of Rit. Make sure to wear gloves and cover any surfaces that might get splashed. It will stain...
The letter that I recently received for my duplicate S/N gave the number as "D10569". There was no mention or explanation about it being a duplicate, the letter followed the same standard format as the others I have received.
