parabellum, the owner's manuel says to lock the bolt open, then put the mag in. Yes you will damage the top cartridge loading the mag with the bolt closed. If you can put 9 in the mag, with the bolt closed for this type of carry without damaging the top cartridge, then that's what you'll have to...
