    44 vs 357 muzzle blast

I too have been trying to figure out how to make those occasional 'unprotected' shots with the least hearing damage. Mr. Bradshaw's load suggestions for the .45C will get a try. Also, I am wondering if black powder loads in the .45C would be "quieter". They certainly are less piercing. I would...

Easiest way to remove front sight without damaging bluing Bl

Had one front sight removed and the bluing was definitely damaged by the heat. He might have used more heat than necessary but, I don't think so. I agree with Hondo though. If the base is good, keep it and add a blade. Another option (besides milling a slot) would be to grind the blade off...

    .45 Blackhawk weight?

Damn Craig!!! How is a guy supposed to stay on topic when you go and post porn like that? That .44 is gorgeous and a great photo to boot. I especially like the grips ...and the front sight ...and the cylinder bevel ...and ...everything. I bet the OP wouldn't mind if you gave us a few details...

    .45 Blackhawk weight?

I've only got a cheapo kitchen scale so don't expect the following weights are accurate but, at least, they should be comparable. All guns are .45s with 4 5/8 barrels: Blue Blackhawk .......... 34 1/2 oz. Stainless Flat top......... 39 oz. Stainless Blackhawk...... 40 3/4 oz. The stock blue...

    Slightly confused

Long ago, when I was into bullseye shooting, S&W built target revolvers without the double-action mechanism and called them ...guess what ...SAO. Sort of like today's S&W 442's that are DAO. So, though usually not called for, the term SAO is not "reserved for semi-auto pistols". As a matter...

    Converting BH 45lc to 45acp

A little background information that, apparently, some are not aware of ... Originally, (as in 1917) S&W .45 ACP revolvers were designed and manufactured to headspace on the CASE MOUTH, just as in the 1911 auto. The half-moon clips were used ONLY as an aid to easier loading and unloading...

    The new rumored Ruger

Can't see a .45 Flat Top eh? Maybe you're right but I never thought I would see a .44 Sp Flat Top either... for pretty much the same argument. We all know how popular it is to hotrod the .44 Special. From reading the forums it seems hardly anyone uses factory level roads. Course there is a...

    sights on super blackhawk

If it is a stainless, contact Ruger for a taller front sight. It will probably be free. If it is blue, contact them anyway ...they MIGHT offer to fix it for free. Sometimes they are real accommodating. Sometimes not. Good luck.

    The new rumored Ruger

I believe you guys are thinkin' too ambitious. I believe Ruger will fill in the new flat top lineup with a .45 built on the mid-frame. They already have the .45 in a New Vaquero so they are not afraid of putting it in that size frame and adjustable sights should be well received. Also NO new...

    44 magum deer round

I'll add another vote for the Hornady 240gr XTP. I have used the bullet in revolvers, rifles, and muzzleloaders (sabot) with great success. I have shot quite a few deer with it and ALL have gone down within just a few yards. None needed tracking but all had an exit hole that would have left a...
