Thanks, gentlemen. This shop had a number of "as-is" rifles, not all of them Rugers. They had handguns, rifles, and a shotgun or two that were tagged that way. The guy told me their distributor had them as they had been sent back to the factory and that was the reason they were "as-is" firearms...

I can be kind of dense, so they started some time in '69 with the 2 digit prefix? If so, was the 1st no. with the prefix was 70-00001, or did they pick up the #'s where they left off with the nos. before the prefix started? Golferboy...that is neat. Is it known how many of the various calibers...

Thanks, Gentlemen. I had thought that I had read that Ruger shipped some with factory sights AND drilled and tapped for regular scope mounts. So I appreciate the clarification.
