    Strange Blackhawk Problem

I was looking at the Belt Mountain, but they aren't good at answering phones or emails.

    Strange Blackhawk Problem

I guess I have to take off the ejector rod to get the pin out? Never done that before. Another adventure. Also, if I decide to put in a stronger base pin retaining spring, how hard is that to do?

    Strange Blackhawk Problem

Well, it looks like problem solved quick and easy. Thanks, guys!

    Strange Blackhawk Problem

If a new base pin is all that is wrong, that should be a cheap and easy fix.

    Strange Blackhawk Problem

Right. After I flushed it our with Gun Scrubber, I went back and lubed it internally with a CLP spray. I did not intentionally clean/lube the plunger at the end of the base pin, because until now I didn't know that it existed! I will have the lady bring the gun back over, soak the plaunger end...

    Strange Blackhawk Problem

No, as I said above, the hammer now works even when the gun is held horizontally, not vertically.

Could that have been "fixed" the way I describe?

    Strange Blackhawk Problem

A neighbor lady brought her .357 Blackhawk over for me to look at. I didn't think to notice how many frame screws it had, but she said that she has had it for several decades. When you tried to cock the hammer, it would stop about halfway back and wouldn't go to full cock. I didn't try to use...

    Snub Nose SP101 .357

Thanks for the replies. I dry fired one of these at a gun store the other day, and I was surprised at what felt like a very long trigger pull. Much longer than the LCR or any of my S&W revolvers. Not heavy or gritty, but very long. Also seemed like what I would call a "two stage" pull. Same...

    Snub Nose SP101 .357

I intend to carry in a fanny pack when I am out walking for exercise and just have on gym shorts and a T shirt. Probably get a shoulder holster for it, too.

    Snub Nose SP101 .357

Thanks for the input. I don't mind carry weight since I usually carry a 1911. I'm more concerned about times when I need a smaller size gun rather than less weight.

    Snub Nose SP101 .357

For those occasions where I need something smaller, yet still potent, to carry, I am looking at a 2" .357. My wife carries a LCR .357, but with .38's in it. I have shot that gun with .357's, and it kicks pretty badly. Of course, that's to be expected from a short barreled, lightweight gun...

    Ruger Standard/MK I Assembly

Thanks for all the help and encouragement. The statement above is exactly what I want. Someone who can show it to me a couple of times so I can actually see what is going on. If a picture is worth a thousand words, seeing it live is worth a million!

    Ruger Standard/MK I Assembly

Thanks for the advice. Trust me, I have read and re-read as many online instructions as I could find, as well as the Ruger manual. I have also looked at a bunch of You Tube videos. I could probably tear down and reassemble a transmission twice in the time it would take me to assemble one of...

    Ruger Standard/MK I Assembly

OK, I know that I'm not the only one who has had this problem. I inherited a .22 Standard in good condition, and I want to shoot it. I have disassembled it twice, tried to follow the manual to reassemble it, and twice I've had to take it to a gunsmith to get it together. There's nothing wrong...
