I guess I have to take off the ejector rod to get the pin out? Never done that before. Another adventure. Also, if I decide to put in a stronger base pin retaining spring, how hard is that to do?

If a new base pin is all that is wrong, that should be a cheap and easy fix.

Right. After I flushed it our with Gun Scrubber, I went back and lubed it internally with a CLP spray. I did not intentionally clean/lube the plunger at the end of the base pin, because until now I didn't know that it existed! I will have the lady bring the gun back over, soak the plaunger end...

No, as I said above, the hammer now works even when the gun is held horizontally, not vertically.

Could that have been "fixed" the way I describe?

I intend to carry in a fanny pack when I am out walking for exercise and just have on gym shorts and a T shirt. Probably get a shoulder holster for it, too.

Thanks for the input. I don't mind carry weight since I usually carry a 1911. I'm more concerned about times when I need a smaller size gun rather than less weight.

For those occasions where I need something smaller, yet still potent, to carry, I am looking at a 2" .357. My wife carries a LCR .357, but with .38's in it. I have shot that gun with .357's, and it kicks pretty badly. Of course, that's to be expected from a short barreled, lightweight gun...
