I am satisfied with the Tyler T-Grip on mine. After hearing a lot of horror stories about extensive wait times for T-Grips, my turnaround time was ten days. May be a matter of what they have in stock.
I have a .44 magnum bisley Vaquero 5-1/2" with a bob Munden #1 action in similar condition to yours that I bought at a LGS about three or four years ago. I don't remember the exact price but I do know that it was well under $700 including 10% sales tax and I still have a good case of buyer elation.
My most accurate Ruger is an Old Model Vaquero in .44 Magnum. I found it by getting on my knees and looking at the rear of the lowest shelf in a LGS. Probably wouldn't have given it a second look if the tag had not contained the magic words, Bob Munden action. Sure enough, the Munden...
When I was teaching my daughter to shoot I came up with this advice which greatly improved her trigger control.
"Your job is not to make the gun go off. Your job is to align the sights, start your trigger press, and let the gun go off when it wants to." Best way I know of to teach a surprise...
In a LGS this past week I ran across a single action Ruger John Galligher custom Blackhawk in .44 mag. Beautiful gun, showed not much sign of having been fired, great action and trigger, at a price of $699.
I was sorely tempted. Only problem is, I have a Old Model Bisley Vaquero in .44 magnum...
I am almost 70. Several years back my eye doctor told me to stop using my .30-06 because I had vitreous separation and was susceptible to retina detachment. I found a good buy on a Merkel 6.5X55 for a whitetail rifle. It is a fine cartridge and recoil is negligible.
Tom W:
I was in the process of buying one from a LGS in the Birmingham area until I looked closer at it and found numerous scratched areas on it, as well as some deep muzzle scratches which seemed to get into the rifling. I cancelled the deal immediately. Later found another new one in same...
Enlighten the ignorant here. My Redhawk 45Colt/.45 ACP has a hole in the front face of the integral front sight mount
with a small rod in it. Is this the plunger quick-change type or is that the pin?
I really like mine. For a non-handloader, the .45 ACP option is great for less expensive and easier to find range ammo. for outdoors carry I currently stoke it with some warmer buffalo Bore Keith-style ammo. It is currently not considered my deer hunting gun, as a long-slide 10mm Nighthawk...
That cylinder lock clunk really bothered my at first when shooting my Redhawk .45/.45 double action.
However, if you want to stage the trigger, it is a good signal that the sear break is imminent.
It does seem that it is getting less noticeable with use.
I am confused, I suppose. I thought that the original Vaquero frames did not have true case hardening but an applied imitation case hardening finish. I have one, think it looks worse than a blued finish would.
I ordered a Tyler T-Grip for mine and it helps a lot. A recent thread on this same subject has a good picture of the same gun with a T-grip on it. Here's the link. http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=233726
I have found no rubber grips for it. Called Ruger and Hoague with no...
There you go! This one actually fits a little better than mine, as mine has a small gap between the T-grip edge and the frame in the arch area. Doesn't affect gripping, though.
