I was not a great fan of Rugers in general but I had a lot of respect for their quality. I was a big fan of Smith J frames - owned 5+ and carried one frequently. After fondling one LCR at my dealer's a few times, I decided to try one. Shortly thereafter bought a second one for the wife and then...
Have 3 LCRs in the family - one for wife, one for daughter (who carries rarely) and mine and I sometimes carry my daughter's for a NY reload. Added XS night sights on two and Hi Viz fiber optics on the third. Definitely like the trigger and the Hogue grips, although they might be a little large...
Have owned three 625s and a S&W 1917. They are some of my favorite wheel guns. My Performance Center 625 4 inch is extremely accurate and I can't think of any revolver that I would trade it for.
I'd be at the head of the line if Ruger offered a double action .45 ACP.
Have 3 LCRs in the family. Trigger pulls are all the same. One hasn't been shot much. The other two have several hundred rounds through them. No problems at all.
Sold two pre-lock 642s and now carry two LCRs. One IWB (strong side), one in pocket holster (weak side). I thought Smith J frames were as good as you can get. I was wrong.
I previously owned and carried (1 or 2 at a time) two pre-lock 642s and a pre-lock 442. I now own and carry (1 or 2 at a time) three LCRs. The 442 has been relegated to safe-queen duty.
I like the LCRs because they are easier to carry and shoot. The lighter weight would normally be a...
The advantages of the LCR over the current metal alloy revolvers is that the recoil absorbtion of the polymer frame and the Hogue "Tamer" grip make shooting 38 spl +P ammo reasonable. I don't think that any current technology will allow .357 Mag to be reasonable in any gun this light.
The LCR's...
The "standard" grip on the LCR is a Hogue "Tamer" grip licensed or supplied by Hogue. It contains a special soft rubber insert between the backstrap and the rest of the grip. Don't know whether CT can dupicate that legally or design something different that will mitigate recoil as much.
Since...
The Hogue "Tamer" grips which Ruger puts on LCRs are probably the most recoil absorbing type of grip out there. I doubt if Crimson Trace is going to make anything comparable anytime soon, unless they develop a licensing agreement with Hogue.
I'd like to see Hogue offer "Tamers" for the S&W J...
Took one of the XS sighted LCRs to the range this morning for a short tryout. In spite of being very cold, I shot 15 rounds and the point of impact was pretty much what the XS directions say to expect.
I'm satisfied with the XS sights so far.
My sights came this afternoon. Decided to just do one LCR first and wait to do the second one. The first went very easy. Pin drifted out easily and old sight just about fell off. It went so well, I decided to do the second one also.
The second one didn't go quite as smoothly. The pin was a...
Just got my tools and supplies ready for the sights to arrive.
Got an e-mail from XS-sights. The LCR sights are out of stock. They hope to be able to ship them in a week or two.
He who hesitates ........ waits.
